Becoming A CNA Has Its Ups And Downs

Ok guys, please don’t hate on me for not posting for so long. I have been busy with work, and as many of you know I work in the health industry, so it is very demanding. But I really wanted to write something because I feel bad for this girl from work.

A girl from work has been telling me how she really enjoys her job as a CNA, but she is wanting to get into something that pays a little more to take care of her family. She has 3 kids, and her husband left her about 2 years ago. She has to try and pay all the bills, and if she wants to make more money then she also has to go to school.

I can’t begin to tell you how this can be a burdening situation for anyone. if you are going to go to go to school or get education for something in the health industry then you need to get it done while you can. For those who want to start as a CNA, you need to take the proper CNA training classes early on rather than waiting til later in life.

Eventually you may want to become an RN or an LPN to make more money. If you have the opportunity to do these things now, don’t wait. The longer you wait to try and decide what you want to do as a career, the harder it will get.

I only hope people like Lisa from work can still move forward with their education, because once you have children, all those things change. Lesson taken!

College is not my learning experience

One thing that I have learned is that college is just the starting point of what you will really learn in the real world. I started college off to become an MRI Technician thinking that I would learn everything I would need to know to get a great job and do it well. But since finishing, I have learned that it is not always that simple. There are a lot of factors to getting a job, and many times the employer will want you to have some type of experience. College not being one of them. This is how I can see if you never went to school but know the right person, you are better than that person with the degree.

Couldn’t we all agree that many times its not what you know but who you know, or how well you impress the employer to get the job? This is just one of the simple things I am beginning to realize since applying for jobs.

After getting a degree as an MRI technician I found that getting the pay I wanted and the hours I wanted was a bit difficult. Sure, an MRI Technician salary is good and there are plenty of jobs waiting to be filled, but apparently what I was asking was too much.

I’m still waiting for that right opportunity to come around, and yes I am keeping an eye out so don’t call me lazy.

Pink Depression Glass Reminds Us

One of my favorite collectibles is depression glass by far. A site that I have noticed which covers a lot of the pricing on not only pink depression glass but also many others is pinkzaz. I had a question about an old crystal piece that my mother had, and I emailed the owner, and sure enough she had an answer for me.

I think that depression glass gives us a few reminders into the past. Right now wouldn’t be such a bad time with the economy to give consideration to our futures. How and why depression glass became so popular might just happen again if people become poor enough everywhere for it. The constant loss of jobs as well as the increase in temporary layoffs has caused the economy for the US to weaken even more.

The government has stepped in and offered some help to small business owners which is good, but where will this lead them. Will they die a slow death, or will businesses recover and be able to offer not only insurance and the other benefits that are tough to afford? We can only wait things out and hope for the best.

So next time you say depression glass, think of how it came to be, and why it is such an amazing collectible with plenty of character and natural flaw.

Blackout Blinds that work

Recently I found myself in need of some blinds that would give me a little more privacy, and also block out the light that just kills me when I am trying to sleep in the day. There a lot of different types of blinds to get but very few completely block out sun. After the Blinds consultant came by and told me I needed thicker slats for my horizontal blinds thats what i went and did. Got precisely what he said, but that wasn’t good enough. Then I read about blackout blinds which for the most part will do the job. There are several different types. You can opt for blackout shades or go with the traditional look.

I can tell you right now since I have had them installed, the sun is not shining where I don’t want it to. These blackout blids are absolutely amazing, and I can even see the television better. No glare at all. If yo are looking at getting something to get the job done, then I say go for sure with blackout blinds.

Getting good filters for my home

One of the things I have learned recently from a friend is that electrostatic filters are the best for your home, and you health. Since so much dust can collect in and around the house, an electrostatic filter helps collect all that, so allergies and other particles of dust and debris in the air are gotten rid of. I purchased the filtrete system by 3m which was recommended to me, and I can’t even begin to tell you the difference it has made. I can tell I am not only feeling better, but the air really does feel fresher when I breathe it.

When I think about all the invisible things that these electrostatic filters catch, it makes me think of the things that we can’t see that we would be horrified of if we did. Say for example in the bathroom? All I can say is be smart and take a friends advice sometimes. It feels good to learn soemthing every day. Maybe now my brain can breathe better so i can get back to work.
